In between Irish car bombs, green beer, and the ensuing bouts of regret, SXSW attendees who will be in Austin on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17 for the, like, two people who don’t know) should swing by Craftsman and listen to some fantastic music. Co-produced by ATX Management and Defacto Productions, The New Americana Party (which we are happy to be a sponsor of) will feature 16 acts on two stages, including many of our favorite locals like Blank Range and Blackfoot Gypsies. Doors are at 2pm and the goodness starts at 3 with BLUE HEALER on the outdoor stage. What should you do until March 17 you ask? We recommend RSVPing for preferred access here and then jamming out to the event’s Spotify playlist here!
We’ll be previewing more of the acts in the weeks to come, but today, we have the exclusive on the debut single by the newly formed Nashville group, The Daybreaks, all about breaking out from the mold and listening to what matters most. In “The Machine,” in the first line of the chorus, the group sings, “I’m not just a machine/my heart is moving me everywhere I go.” We’ve all heard the sentiment that you should “follow your heart,” and this is perhaps exactly what The Daybreaks did in order to put aside solo careers for the time being and form the trio. It’s never an easy choice, especially for creative individuals, to stop, think, and change directions, but sometimes, gut trumps all. (And it should.) After all, we’re not just machines.
Catch them at 8:15 pm at the New Americana Party, and check out the song below (and keep scrolling for the full New Americana Party lineup).
