Things you can order at Dino’s: a delicious burger, a sangria in a can (a thing, apparently) and an exclusive performance from our local surf punk bundles of stoned delightfulness, Turbo Fruits. We ordered that all up one spring afternoon anyway, cramming them into the corner of the newly revamped Gallatin Road haunt – and though we normally like to strip down our UnLocked Sessions, something felt criminal about completely unplugging these guys, who played a few songs from their recent LP, No Control. Since then, there have been a few lineup shuffles, but it’s been no detriment to their fuzzed-out breed of rock that’s as tripped out as it is sure-footed: and there are few things that scream Nashville to us quite like Jonas Stein’s crackled howl (maybe it’s all that homemade miso soup).
Big thanks to Dino’s for letting us take over, and to our friends at Made In for the video. And catch our other Dino’s UnLocked Session, with Anderson East, here. Also, weird fact: we tried to stage a recreation of the Cheers cast photo after the session, and failed.
Watch below for two exclusive performances of “The Way I Want You” (one of our Favorite Local Songs of the Year) and “No Reason to Stay” below.
