We’ve mentioned before how fashion and music are permanently married in our minds – and explored one brand that carries this mantra well: Madewell. It was a blast shooting the lovely and talented Jessica Maros of Escondido and Kuzin last year, when she styled their perfectly rock & roll leather and silk at our East Nashville headquarters (Kate Cauthen caught the snaps).
Which is why we were so excited to see Madewell launching a special new partnership with Spotify (Madewell x Spotify) and hosting three special “Madewell Sessions” at stores across the country. Luckily, one of them happens to be in Nashville tonight with the amazing Sharon Van Etten, and we’ll be there to bring you all the details plus an exclusive Q&A later with Sharon herself on fashion, music and the magic in merging the two. Other sessions will be with Lucius in New York and Kelela in Los Angeles. Tonight’s event is private, but if you get there early enough you could be one of the few customers let in to catch the action (we hear they will admit around 25). Show’s at 7 p.m. Either way, shop at Madewell and you’ll get a 60-day Spotify premium trial through the end of June.
Click around here, “3 Artists, 3 Summer Playlists, 3 Looks,” for some insight into what Sharon, Lucius and Kelela are listening to and wearing this summer. The girls of L/S are all pretty keen on that Savannah Saddlebag, and even Kevin can get in on Sharon’s pick of Bill Callahan and Stereolab. See more on Sharon’s music and fashion passions here. “On the road, it’s hard to tap into that mental space, but the right clothing can make me feel more confident, especially onstage at big venues or festivals, where I don’t feel as connected to the crowd,” she says. She also mentions Bob Dylan as a musical muse, and you know how we feel about Mr. Dylan…
