– The Shins have announced an expanded set of summer dates, including a stop at the Ryman on 10.7. A press release states that the new dates will “feature an expanded Shins lineup, with James Mercer having added Mark Watrous on additional guitars and lap steel to the existing live Shins roll call of Yuuki Matthews (bass), Jessica Dobson (guitar), Richard Swift (keyboards) and Joe Plummer (drums).” Pre-sale will be available tomorrow at 11 am, on the band’s website.
– On 4.2.11, LCD Soundsystem played its final show at Madison Square Garden, and my Facebook feed exploded with Instagram photos of those who wanted to prove they were there. Turns out, a movie was also made detailing the experience and the before-and-after of frontman James Murphy’s decision to disband LCDS, called Shut Up and Play the Hits. Now the film will play in theaters across the country on July 18th, one night only. Here, it’s happening at the Belcourt, and tickets go on sale at the theater beginning June 8th.
