News /// 5.23.12: Beck to release Third Man Single, Edward Sharpe at Grimey’s, King Tuff at Stone Fox, New Yeasayer

– Mr. Hanson is getting the Third Man treatment. Beck came to Nashville in 2011, to work on new material for his next album, and recorded a song at Third Man on his final day in town.

The resulting single, “I Just Started Hating Some People Today”/ “Blue Randy” will be available online, via iTunes and locally at the shop. From TMR: “Inspired by the title of “Blue Randy,” an extremely limited run of 100 Tri Color 7-inches will be available beginning 10am on Saturday June 2nd at Randy’s Records at 157 East 900 South in Salt Lake City. An even scarcer scattering of 50 Tri Colors will be randomly inserted in mail orders for the single placed with Third Man.”

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros are playing a gig at Grimey’s on 5.31 at 1 p.m. Here is the info on how to get in on the pre-Ryman festivities, straight from the horse’s mouth:

Starting Wed. May 23rd, you can come to Grimey’s and pre-order the new Edward Sharpe album “Here”. We will give you a beautiful hand-screened poster print designed specifically for this live show and YOU WILL BE ON THE LIST FOR THE IN-STORE! The album comes out on May 29, two days before the in-store. You can come pick up your vinyl or CD copy starting on that day or you can get it when you come for the live performance. You will have to buy the album here at Grimey’s to gain entry to the in-store. Buying it on iTunes or Amazon WILL NOT get you into the show. There is limited space so don’t delay. You will have to come to the store to buy the pre-order. No phone purchases or internet sales. Thank you for your time and attention. This will be awesome!

– Subpop’s King Tuff is playing 7.12 at Stone Fox with Natural Child.

Yeasayer, playing 6.22 at Cannery, have a new track, “Henrietta.” The Nashville gig, along with the rest of the early summer tour, will be a warm up to the band’s upcoming release, Fragrant Word, on 8.21.
