News /// 3.29.12: Horse Feathers at the Basement, Sixpence None the Richer at Peter Nappi, April at the Wash, Brad Paisely’s endowment, etc.

– Portland’s Horse Feathers have announced that they are taking their dreamy, multi-instrumental brand of indie rock to the Basement on May 18. Their fourth record Cynic’s New Year isn’t out until April 17 (on Kill Rock Stars), but you can preview one of their tracks right here.

– Do you remember that song “Kiss me” by Sixpence None The Richer? Don’t lie. You do and you loved singing along a la Emma Stone in Easy A (yes, you’ve seen that too). Anyway,  they are playing a gig tonight at Peter Nappi. It’s free, space is limited, and you can RSVP here.

– Brad Paisley gives a big endowment to Belmont. Don’t read that too quickly.

– Kentucky’s Morning Teleportation & Nashville’s Sol Cat will co-headline Mercy on 4.13.

– Fueled by Ramen artists Rocket to the Moon are recording in Nashville.

– In 😦 news: Peter Case and Paul Collins has been cancelled. If you have tickets, get your refunds here.

Justin Townes Earle played Letterman last night. Nashville born in this case counts, for blog purposes. Maybe because we’re biased to JTE. Oh well.

Buffalo Clover’s got a blog

The Good Americans are having a record release show tonight at the 5 Spot with Otis Gibbs. Perhaps they’ll be an Earl Scruggs tribute?

– Scotland’s We Were Promised Jet Packs play Exit/In tonight, with Bad Veins. 9 pm showtime. If you can’t make it, the whole thing is streaming on LiveStream. WWPJP is touring in support of their 2011 release, In The Pit Of The Stomach, which my folks at FILTER reviewed here.

– Detroit soul man Mayer Hawthorne is playing Mercy Lounge on May 1.

Now, Now have been added to the April 10th lineup of Naked & Famous and Vacationer at Mercy Lounge.

-The Family Wash has released its April lineup. Here’s the schedule:
